Purpose
TALON is a non-profit association researching the cultural history, iconography and craft of playing cards, and how they are used, spread and varied by region. It supports collectors and museums with expertise on cataloguing and provenance, publishes a yearbook and holds exhibitions and conferences, and works with related fields such as paper history, printing technique and social history.
Editorial policy
The Spielkarten-Wiki (playing-card wiki) is a reference work on the history of playing cards in the German-speaking area and beyond. It collects verifiable, sourced information on packs, makers, tax stamps and the relevant literature; uncertainty is stated, not smoothed over. It is non-commercial, independent of the trade and auction business, and politically unaffiliated.

Data is published under CC0; images carry an individual rights status — there is no blanket release for images. Content is produced on a voluntary basis to the best of our knowledge; no guarantee is given for accuracy or completeness.
